Missionary Brenda J. Carn Henley

Sister Brenda J. Carney-Henley is a member of Greater Mercy Temple Church, Danbury, CT. Sister Brenda is the Local Women Council President of Greater Mercy Temple and the daughter, of District Elder Jesse Carney and the Late Mother Alice Carney.


Sister Henley has been an active member of the IWC for 24 years and an IWC Life Time member for 23 years. She is a woman who wears many hats. She served as Corresponding Secretary for the Connecticut Northern Diocese Missionary Department under the leadership of the late Mother Alice Carney and was the Diocese Women Council Recording Secretary, under the Leadership of the Late Mother Evelyn Green. In 2009 she was appointed the Diocese Women Council President of the Connecticut-Northern Diocese after Mother Evelyn Green fell asleep in the Lord.

She was a member and served as the Chairperson for the International Missionary Department Church Of Our Lord Jesus Christ Credential Committee collectively for over 20 years. Missionary Henley has served as Chair of the IWC Banner and Awards Committee, the IWC Hall of Fame Committee and The IWC Journal Committee. She was elected to the Office of the Recording Secretary for the International Women’s Council Department in 2011 and re-elected for a 2 nd term in 2014. In October 2017, she was elected to the office of Vice President of Home Mission.

Sister Henley is a Prayer Warrior and is the Prayer Band Leader for the Noon Day Prayer Hour that is dedicated to praying for the pastors. She firmly believes that Prayer for the head blesses the entire body. She has two loving daughters, Monique(Jerome) and Nicole(Ray), two son-in- love: Elder Jerome Anderson and Elder Ray White, seven grandchildren: Alexsandra, Joel, Brianna, DaVina, Christian, Jeremiah and Kavon. One of her favorite scriptures is: Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. (Ecclesiastes 9:10). One of her favorite Hymns is:

If I can help somebody as I pass along.
If I can cheer somebody with a word or song.
If I can show somebody that he's traveling wrong.
Then my living shall not be in vain
